Meanwhile, the pirates get to play the game with no problems whatsoever. So, I put a new hard drive in my PC, I reinstalled Dead Space 2, losing another activation in the process (down to 35 in 2 days), and now the damn game wont start.
It does the one time release date check activation, completes, and then does absolutely nothing. It tries to do the release date check everytime that I start the game. When I installed the game on the first hard drive, I had to disable WMI for it to work, but I had installed it from the disk. I downloaded it from Origin this time, and now that fix will not work, either. Ive tried all of the supposed fixes from EA and Steam, but to no avail. The game just wont run, and the suggestions from EA tech support will not work. Ive been searching around the internet, and a lot of people have the same problem with the game. It tries to do the one time release date check at startup, completes the check, and then nothing. ![]() I had to start the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP in order for the release date check to complete successfully and move onto the product activation, but then my screen turned black and nothing else happened. I forced Dead Space 2 to close, then I unselected compatibilty mode for XP, and now the game starts. So, on Windows 7 x64, the release date check DRM only works in compatibility mode for Windows XP. ![]() ![]()
